National Day celebrations draw to a close in Sharjah

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa commended the active participation and interaction of the Arab and Gulf audience during the events

At the conclusion of Sharjah’s successful celebrations of the 51st UAE National Day, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah National Day Celebrations Commitee, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Sharjah Executive Council, headed by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for supporting the 51st National Day celebrations. He also paid tribute to the commitee members and the Emirate’s municipal councils for their efforts to make the events across Sharjah a success.

With the participation of Arab and Gulf artists alongside their Emirati fellows, the UAE National Day celebrations concluded in Sharjah. The 2022 celebrations, which marked the 51st National Day of the UAE, have become an important event celebrated by citizens and residents in a country devoted to the well-being of its people. The celebrations also commemorated the global leadership in many sectors and the model achievements that Arabs are proud of.

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa commended the active participation and interaction of the Arab and Gulf audience during the events. He said:

“We are proud of the large Arab and Gulf attendance at Sharjah’s celebrations for National Day. We are always pleased to see our fellow Arabs joining us in the national celebrations, interacting with activities and enjoying them in a safe and peaceful atmosphere. Hopefully, they made beautiful memories during the National Day. We look forward to meeting them once again next year.”

He added: “We promise Sharjah celebrations’ audience an even beter experience in the coming year. This annual gathering has become a milestone in Sharjah’s annual activities programmes and we look forward to meeting them once again next year on this same occasion to express love for the UAE.”

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa highlighted the committee’s role in developing a diversified programme of events, activities and competitions, which atracted a large atendance over a period of 10 days from November 24 to December 3, 2022, in Sharjah’s cities and major tourist and cultural destinations. These destinations included Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Sharjah National Park, Maliha Public Park, Dibba Al Hisn, Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, Wadi Al Helo and various areas of Kalba, parks and residential areas in Al Bataeh, various areas of Al Madam, Al Dhaid Fort and the Heritage Village in Al Hamriya.

The Chairman of Sharjah National Day Celebrations Commitee commended the unified media identity of the festivities in Sharjah, pointing out that the extraordinary activities focused on showcasing the achievements, history and heritage of the UAE using innovative models.

On November 26, the audience atended live performances by Balqees and Latifa at Al Majaz Amphitheatre and on December 3, the Khorfakkan amphitheatre hosted Eida Al Menhali and Diana Haddad. Khorfakkan also witnessed the participation of Gulf folkloric groups from Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The atendees enjoyed local folkloric performances such as Harbiya, Al-razfa, Al-yowlah, Al-ayala, Al-rababa and Al-azi, which have similar forms in the Gulf region as a common heritage among the peoples of the region.

This year, the celebrations featured more than 200 events that highlighted the achievements, culture, and history of the UAE, and a variety of programmes for families, offering a unique opportunity to spend good time with relatives. in addition to sports events and competitions sponsored by the Sharjah Marine Sports Club, parades, folklore groups, horse shows, classic cars and tourist buses, productive families’ exhibitions, various competitions and games, prizes and raffles.

In an earlier report, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said that the UAE’S National Day marks the day that witnessed the birth of a great and ambitious country keen to promote its principles, religious ethics and leading cultural heritage.

In his statement to ‘Nation Shield’, the UAE Armed Forces’ magazine on the occasion of the 51st UAE National Day, Sheikh Sultan said, “On 2nd December every year, we celebrate the National Day of the UAE, the nation that became a unique model of a developed and strong nation, respected and recognised by the entire world.
