Ceremony honours Sudanese students in Sharjah

Sharjah:sheikhsalembinabdulrahmanalqasimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office, atended the annual honouring ceremony for outstanding Sudanese high school students and university graduates at the Culture Palace, which was organised by the Sudanese Social Centre in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Omar Ahmed Khojaly, head of the Sudanese community in Sharjah and director of the Sudanese Socialcentre,deliveredaspeechinwhichhethanked and appreciated Sheikh Salem for sponsoring the centre’s annual ceremony.

Thecounsellor,mortadaal-zailai,vicepresident of the Centre, then read the decision of the Executive Commitee and the Sudanese community in the Emirate of Sharjah to choose the late Hamad Abdullah Hamad as the person of the year for 2022.

Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi honoured a number of Sudanese innovators in various professional fields and presented a memorial shield to the family of the late Hamad Abdullah Hamad in recognition of his pioneering role.

The ceremony was atended by Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Consul-general of the Republic of Sudan, and a number of heads and members of Sudanese club councils.

‘ARBITRATION AND MEDIATION IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY’ DIPLOMA: The Emirates Intellectual Property Association has launched the first course of the Diploma in Arbitration and Mediation in Intellectual Property, which is organised in partnership with Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre, and the participation of international experts and arbitrators.

Fatima Al Hosani, member of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association’s Board of Directors, explained that the main objective of the diploma is to develop participant skills and to inform them of the principles, procedures and types of arbitration for intellectual property disputes and the methods and provisions of mediation in those disputes. The diploma will result in students graduating as experts in arbitration and mediation and primed to assist in setling disputes related to intellectual property.

She also explained that this diploma is an achievement of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association’s mission to raise awareness of the UAE community in the fields of intellectual property. It works towards the association’s goals of preventing intellectual property crimes by spreading awareness of intellectual property rights and improving the country’s global classification of intellectual property.

For his part, Ahmed Saleh Al-echla, Director of Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre, confirmed that this diploma consists of a carefully writen series to provide participants with the knowledge and technical skills in the field of arbitration and mediation in intellectual property.
